Brown County collects almost 800 pounds of prescription medications through the Take Back Program.
As part of the Underage Substance Abuse
Coalition's programming, a prescription medication program was developed
in Oct. 2011. With collaboration of the New Ulm Police Department,
Brown County Sheriff's Dept., Sleepy Eye and Springfield Police
Departments, Brown County members have three locations to safely and
confidentially dispose of old medications. Since Oct. 2011, Brown County
has collected 780 pounds of medications to be disposed.
A big THANK YOU to United
Way for donating $600 towards the disposal of the drugs; disposal of
the drugs is not covered by USAC's grant through SAMHSA. HCHY graciously
accepted the task of being the fiscal agent for the grant.
